Haslam pleased with sixth at Imola

Leon Haslam has his eye on a good result at Imola after qualifying sixth aboard the BMW S1000RR.
Leon Haslam feels he is in a good position to attack come race day at Imola after securing a spot on the second row of the grid.

The BMW rider has barely strayed outside the top five throughout provisional qualifying and free practice, but the strength of the competition meant he could only assure his place in the top eight shootout by using the last of his qualifying tyres in SP2.

Nonetheless, despite having to set his final lap time on race rubber, Haslam was able to qualify in sixth position as the highest-placed BMW rider, just ahead of his 'Italia' counterpart Ayrton Badovini.

“I have been feeling confident all weekend and we managed to get the bike working well yesterday. That gave me a lot of confidence coming into Superpole but today we had a few issues with the bike which made things difficult.

“We still managed to qualify on the second row of the grid however, which is a good position to be in going into tomorrow's races. On the whole I am feeling pretty happy and looking forward to tomorrow.”
