Alstare reveals more on Suzuki situation

Suzuki is prepared to maintain a presence in the World Superbike Championship next season, but its factory involvement will be kept fairly minor.
Alstare says Suzuki is yet to make formal decision on its plans for the 2012 World Superbike Championship, but reveals the manufacturer's interest is likely to be kept fairly minimal.

Despite taking the runners-up spot with Leon Haslam in 2010, Suzuki has wound down its efforts at WSBK level this season, with Alstare running just a single GSX-R1000 for Michel Fabrizio.

At this time, Suzuki hasn't made it plans for 2012 officially known, in either World Superbikes or MotoGP, but Alstare says the factory can only provide bikes and spares, while research, development or additional parts will have to be funded privately.

Adding that Suzuki is in talks only with Alstare and possibly the British Superbike-based Samsung Crescent team, which is rumoured to want to bring star rider John Hopkins to the world stage, a statement from the team says a full decision will be made at Magny-Cours next week.

“At the moment, Suzuki Japan has not made their final decision regarding the 2012 World Superbike Championship. Currently, Suzuki Japan are able to offer Alstare the current bikes and spares, but are
not in a position to provide funds for research and development. Furthermore any parts that Suzuki produce in 2012 would have to be purchased.

“Alstare understand that Suzuki Japan are not in discussions with any other team regarding the 2012 World Superbike Championship, save for perhaps Paul Denning in UK, should Alstare not be involved with Suzuki in 2012.

“A final decision by Suzuki is promised after the Magny-Cours round and Alstare hope to be able to make an official statement then.

“Currently Alstare are in negotiations with prospective sponsors regarding 2012 and will be happy to communicate information when it is available.”

I think Batta should leave Suzuki and move on to other manufacturer. His team is too good for wasting time with Suzukis. If they dont want to race and show the world how good the new GSX-R1000 would be, then be it. They seem to forget that the best Gixxer1000, the K5, won WSBK that year with Troy Corser and was a massive sales hit right away. I dont see how they want to sell the new 1000 with lagging behind (or absolutely no presence) in WSBK. At least they would do MotoGP properly, but they are wasting money and careers there as well. :(
