Record-breaker Corser surpasses 4,000 points

28 September 2011

Troy Corser reached another milestone in his already record-breaking World Superbike Championship career having now scored more than 4,000 points.

The Australian, champion in 1996 and 2005, is a stalwart of World Superbikes having raced in 15 full seasons since making his debut back in 1992. During that time, Corser has amassed 33 wins, 43 pole positions and 130 podiums over 373 races.

Now he can also claim to be the first man to notch up 4,000 points at WSBK level after scoring points at the Nurburgring, beating the likes of Noriyuki Haga, who has 3668 points to his name.

Other prolific point scorers over the years include Carl Fogarty on 3020, Aaron Slight on 2834.5, Troy Bayliss on 2442, Colin Edwards on 2393.5, Pierfrancesco Chili on 2381.5 and James Toseland on 2098.

Despite this achievement, Corser's plans for the 2012 season remain undecided following a disappointing third year on the BMW S1000RR in which he has been comfortably out-paced by Leon Haslam.
