PICS: Melandri, Laverty try out their new bikes

Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty are out on track in Portimao riding for new employers BMW and Aprilia.
Former Yamaha team-mates Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty have stepped out for the first time aboard their respective new Superbikes during post-season testing at Portimao.

Fresh from his win in the final race of 2011, having already sealed the runners-up spot in the WSBK standings, Melandri is getting his first taste of the BMW S1000RR, which is enjoying its first outing in 2012-specification.

Meanwhile, Laverty has enjoyed his first laps aboard the Aprilia RSV-4 after it was confirmed over the weekend that the Irishman would be riding a factory-specification machine. He is currently riding the bike that was piloted by Noriyuki Haga and PATA Racing over the 2011 season.
