Former MotoGP rider Hiroshi Aoyama is making his Castrol Honda World Superbike debut during a private three-day test in Qatar.
The desert track has been chosen because of the guaranteed good weather, with several of Ten Kate's tests spoilt by rain and cold conditions last year.
The Losail layout is also well known to Aoyama, the 2009 250cc world champion, from grand prix.
Aoyama will race with the #4 during his first WSBK season in 2012, with team-mate Jonathan Rea switching from the #4 back to the #65.
Testing concludes on Thursday.
