Stars set to launch Russian round

Russia's round of the World Superbike Championship gets ready for launch
Next year's inaugural FIM World Superbike Championship round in the Russian capital of Moscow will be officially launched tomorrow (Friday).

Infront Motor Sports, the championship promoters, plus press and current World Superbike and Supersport champions Carlos Checa and Chaz Davies will attend the event at one of Moscow's leading hotels.

The race in Russia will be held at Moscow Raceway on August 26 next year.

The launch will be hosted by Alexander Yakhnich, CEO of YMS Promotion and Alexander Lunkin, President of the Russian Motorcycle Federation, while the FIM will be represented by Deputy President Jorge Viegas and CCR Director Rezso Bulcsu.

CEO Paolo Flammini and SBK General Manager Paolo Ciabatti will represent Infront Motor Sports, with Stephan Herth (Executive Director of Summer Sports) speaking for parent company Infront Sports & Media.

Numerous VIP figures from Moscow's political, business and sporting sectors will also be in attendance at the event, which will be followed by a gala dinner in the evening.

The race next summer will be the first time a world-level motorcycle meeting has been staged in Russia.

The World Superbike Championship is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2012, when a new series logo and brand identity will be unveiled.

The inclusion of talented young Russian rider Vladimir Leonov (Yakhnich Motorsport )in the World Supersport class next year will give Russian fans added interest in their home round in August.
