Burgeoning World Superbike Championship team Ducati Roma is continuing the preparations for its 2012 debut with a test at Vallelunga.

The outfit, which has raced as SS. Lazio in the FIM Superstock 1000 series in recent years, will join the WSBK ranks next season having assumed running of the now defunct Supersonic Racing team.

Though Ducati Roma hasn't formally confirmed Niccolo Canepa as its rider, the former MotoGP rider, who raced for SS. Lazio during the second-half of the 2011 Superstock 1000 series, was once more on the 1098R during a test at Vallelunga and looks set to retain the ride.

"Unfortunately we didn't have that much time at our disposal and in the afternoon there were many other bikes on the track and I couldn't push as much as I wanted too. I still took advantage of the day to work on suspensions and on the electronics of my Ducati, continuing the work we started at Misano.

"Certainly we have to do other tests to do in order to be ready for the start of the World Superbike season and I know that the team is working on that. I'm working well with my team and our Ducati is improving performance wise.

"I'd like thank all the fans and sponsors who joined us at Vallelunga and we will do our best not to disappoint them."
