Leon Haslam maintained his and BMW's place at the top of the World Superbike timesheets as initial testing for the 2012 season continued at Portimao.
The Portuguese circuit is hosting a three-day test before the winter ban kicks in, with BMW, Aprilia and Crescent Suzuki in attendance.
Having paced the first day of the test, Haslam was once again fastest on the S1000RR, lowering his time to an unofficial best of 1min 43.2secs, while Eugene Laverty shrugged off a high-side on the Aprilia RSV-4 to go second, a tenth adrift.
Ayrton Badovini, one of the 2011 revelations on the BMW Italia, was another tenth further back in third position, with Max Biaggi fourth on 1min 43.6secs and graduating World Supersport Champion Chaz Davies a fine fifth on the ParkinGO Aprilia (1min 44.2secs).
Marco Melandri chased set-up over fast times on the way to sixth quickest (1min 44.3secs), while Leon Camier took a considerable amount of time off his Monday best with a 1min 44.7secs as he continues to adapt to the Crescent Suzuki.
Michel Fabrizio and Alastair Seeley, standing in for John Hopkins, brought up the rear for BMW Italia and Crescent Suzuki respectively with 1min 44.9secs and 1min 46.1secs.
