On the same day that Carlos Checa won the WSBK title at Magny-Cours and Chaz Davies the WSS crown, young English rider Josh Harland scored a less publicised victory on his debut in the European Junior Cup.
The EJC is a support class at the European WSBK rounds, offering up and coming riders from all over the world the chance to compete on equal Kawasaki 250cc machinery.
Harland's debut in the Magny-Cours round marked his big chance to shine, after fighting back from a leg-shattering 125cc injury and then uncompetitive machinery during the 2011 Superstock 600 season.
He certainly made the most of his chance, catching the eye of former 500cc winner Simon Crafar as he qualified on the front row of the grid at a circuit he had never seen before.
Harland then capped a dream debut by taking an emphatic victory in the race.
But despite that performance, Harland's hopes of a full 2012 EJC season are in doubt due to a lack of funding. The 'Josh Harland 250 Supporters Club' has been created to help get him on the grid, and those that can help should email email@example.com
