Ducati Roma change name ahead of maiden season

Niccolo Canepa will race under the Red Devils Roma banner in 2012, in place of the original Ducati Roma banner.
Andrea Petricca's maiden foray into the World Superbike Championship will operate under the Red Devils Roma Team, it has been confirmed.

The outfit, which has taken over from outgoing team Supersonic Racing, was originally launched with the Ducati Roma moniker, but with a month to go before the start of the 2012 season, Petricca has amended the name to Red Devils Roma Team.

Reflecting his fondness for a name that was important at the start of his career, Petricca is keen to publicise the name around the world.

"Red Devils is a name that is familiar from the start of my career and it brings to mind riders like Aldeo Presciutti who raced and won under this name,” he said. “We decided to change so as also to be able to carry the name of our city around the world in an important season that will see us take part in one of the most prestigious championships in the world."

Red Devila Roma will run a single Ducati for former MotoGP competitor Niccolo Canepa in 2012.
