BMW Italia has officially presented its team ahead of a second season in the World Superbike Championship, unveiling the colours of its new title sponsor and revised rider line-up.
The BMW satellite team made its WSBK debut in 2011 following success at Superstock 1000 level, but while star signing James Toseland was sidelined by injury for much of the year, Ayrton Badovini made amends with a series of strong results, the Italian concluding the season in tenth overall.
As such, Badovini has been retained to head up BMW Italia's all-Italian 2012 campaign, with ex-factory Ducati rider Michel Fabrizio assuming the vacant seat alongside him. In the Superstock 1000 class, the team will be made up of Sylvain Barrier and Lorenzo Baroni.
The new season will also see BMW Italia receive significant backing from Italian betting company, GoldBet, which will lend its name and its distinctive blue and gold corporate hues to the S1000RR's livery this season.
As a result of the deal, the team will be known as BMW Italia GoldBet.
