Max Biaggi is confident he can get his 2012 World Superbike Championship campaign off to a positive start after securing a spot on the front row of the grid at Phillip Island.

Taking second place by virtue of his definitive Q2 lap time, Biaggi is satisfied with the pace of his Aprilia RSV4, particularly after also going fastest during FP2.

Targeting 'two good results' around the Australian circuit, Biaggi is optimistic that he will be a reckoned force when racing gets underway for the first time in 2012.

"We'll start from the second spot on the grid tomorrow and I don't think Superpole would have made any great changes to the balance that came out of the test sessions. My goal is to get a good start and to try for two good results. It would seem that the work we've done the last few days will allow us to do that."
