Hopkins unfit for Donington

John Hopkins unfit for Donington Park WSBK - replacement TBA...
John Hopkins will be forced to miss this weekend's Donington Park World Superbike round due to fresh injuries sustained in a high-speed accident last time out at Monza.

The Crescent Fixi Suzuki star high-sided during the first race at Monza on Sunday and suffered a broken bone in his right foot and torn muscles in his left hip.

It was originally expected that Hopkins would be fit to ride at Donington, round five, but a further scan revealed the injury to be worst than first thought and he has no choice but to miss the event.

It is hoped that Hopkins, who missed the opening Phillip Island round due to a hand injury in testing, will recover in time for his home US round at Salt Lake City on May 26-28th.

The team will make an announcement on a replacement rider 'in the near future'. TAS Suzuki BSB star Josh Brookes replaced Hopkins at Phillip Island.
