Biaggi: The others are ahead of us

Max Biaggi insists he is still lacking pace compared with his rivals despite qualifying on the front row at Donington Park.
Max Biaggi feels there is 'still something missing' despite qualifying on the front row for the fifth round of the 2012 World Superbike Championship at Donington Park.

The Italian had been keeping a fairly low profile as both he and Aprilia team-mate Eugene Laverty struggled to find a setting suited to the undulating Leicestershire circuit, but found pace on the qualifying tyres during Superpole to snare fourth position.

Despite this, championship leader Biaggi is still uncertain of his pace over a longer distance, conceding that his main rivals are ahead of him over a race distance.

“Compared to Friday we have definitely improved, but there is still something missing because we are still struggling too hard to get everything to fall into place. The others are ahead of us. They've demonstrated speed on the fast lap and good race pace again today.

“In order to keep up with them we need better management of the bike which will allow me to be quicker and more consistent right from the start: if we want to be in it to the end, we cannot afford to lose contact with the front runners.”

I think Max has got Rossitis! Look for the extra within you. I don't think there too much wrong with the bike - its just it doesn't have the speed advantage it once enjoyed over its rivals. Still love ya tho'
