Aitchison leaves Grillini, BSB beckons?

Mark Aitchison quits his World Superbike Championship ride with Grillini Progea BMW five rounds into the 2012 season.
Grillini Progea BMW has confirmed it has parted ways with Mark Aitchison five rounds into the 2012 World Superbike Championship season, with the Australian now reportedly poised to switch to the British Superbike Championship.

Following an encouraging maiden WSBK campaign with Pedercini Kawasaki in 2011, Aitchison landed at series returnees Grillini Progea for 2012 riding a privateer BMW S1000RR, but has struggled to break into the mid-field.

Indeed, after just five rounds, Aitchison has amassed just three points with a best finish coming with a 14th position last time out at Donington Park.

As such, Aitchison will, according to Bikeracing.it embark on pastures new for the remainder of the season, with rumours placing him at the available MSS Bathams Kawasaki ride in BSB, while Grillini is yet to announce who will replace Aitchison for the upcoming round at Miller Motorsports Park this weekend.
