Grillini Progea BMW has announced Jake Holden as its replacement for the departed Mark Aitchison ahead of the sixth World Superbike Championship round at Miller Motorsports Park.
American racer Holden has competed at domestic level in the Superbike, SportBike and Supersport classes since 2000, notching up three wins and 14 podiums in total, and currently races a BMW S1000RR in the 2012 AMA Superbike Championship.
Holden's arrival comes after Grillini Progea parted ways with Mark Aitchison five rounds into the 2012 season, though this deal is expected to be for a single race.
"I am pleased to participate with Team Grillini Progea the Superbike race in Salt Lake City. “Miller Motorsports Park is one of my favourite tracks in the United States. This race will be a new experience for me and I have always dreamed of taking part in this championship since I embarked on a career as a biker. I thank the Team Grillini Progea for giving me opportunity to race in front of my friends and my fans.”
Holden's addition to the grid means there will be three American riders competing on home soil this weekend, the 29-year-old joining FIXI Crescent Suzuki's John Hopkins and wild-card racer Shane Turpin on the Boulder Ducati 1098R.
