Honda's leading World Superbike Championship riders Jonathan Rea and Hiroshi Aoyama have been confirmed as part of the manufacturer's defence of the prestigious Suzuki 8 Hours endurance event.
The announcement marks a return to the iconic event for Rea, the Ulsterman set to race the 2011 winning F.C.C. TSR Honda entry alongside Kousuke Akiyoshi, who formed one-third of the line-up that swept to victory last year.
They will be flanked by a three strong rider line-up at the sister MuSASHi RT Harc Pro Honda team, with Ryuichi Kiyonari – also a winner last year -, being joined by ex-MotoGP rider Aoyama and Takumi Takahashi.
Additionally, Honda is introducing a third new team named Honda Team Asia, with Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman, Chosun Kameya and former MotoGP rider Makoto Tamada competing.
