India added to WSBK calendar for 2013

Buddh International Circuit representative Sameer Gaur reveals that India will join Indonesia in being included on the 2013 World Superbike Championship calendar.
India will join the eni World Superbike Championship calendar in 2013 after a four-year deal was reached to host a round at the Buddh International Circuit.

Having originally been revealed by Sameer Gaur, who heads up the Jaypee Sports Group that runs the Buddh International Circuit, on Twitter, Infront have since confirmed the deal will run between 2013 and 2016.

“After meeting the promoters of Jaypee Group last year I got the feeling that I was dealing with a highly professional and powerful corporation which will guarantee the organization of a successful race in India, even though the Buddh Circuit was still under construction at the time," said Infront Chairman Maurizio Flammini.

"This impression was indeed confirmed by the outcome of the Formula 1 race held in October last year which turned out to be one of the best races of the 2011 season. We are sure that the FIM Superbike World Championship will bring added value to BIC as well as to India, and vice-versa.

"It will also deliver value to all the partners supporting and following our Championship and is a very important opportunity for them to expand their brands and business in Asia.”

Set to become the 27th country to host a round of the World Superbike Championship, the first Indian race is scheduled to be held on March 10th 2013.

The date is significant in that it will likely bridge the sizeable gap between the traditional opener at Phillip Island and the first European round, which often takes place at the end of March or early April.

The inclusion of India on the calendar is further evidence of Infront's plan to enter new markets having already agreed a long-term deal to take the series to Russia, starting with August's inaugural race, as well as confirm a return to Sentul in Indonesia next year.

MotoGP has also been linked with the Indian F1 venue, the circuit's Twitter feed adding: "We are hoping to host MotoGP too in coming years at BIC"

Bic is no joke - Unregistered

@Mates29, that shows how immature you are. BIC is considered now the best circuit in the world & beats kayalami, sugo old circuits handsdown. It is a modern circuit with very well thought elevations, turnings etc. It would probably also mean the 2nd fastest race track on the calendar. I watched F1 @ BIC & was flabbergasted. No sugo kayalami stands chance before BIC. Even most of the drivers including the top three were madly in love with the circuit. Go India, go BIC.
