Eddi La Marra is well placed to secure his first-ever FIM Superstock 1000 Championship victory after securing his second pole position of the season at Misano.

The title contender, who has secured three podiums from three races aboard the newly introduced Ducati 1199 Panigale, had his provisional pole winning time of 1min 39.634secs to thank after neither he nor his rivals could go faster.

Even so, though his Q1 time would stand to the end of Q2, La Marra was still quickest in the second session, the Italian lining up in pole position alongside MRS Kawasaki rider Jeremy Guarnoni, while Michele Magnoni and Lorenzo Baroni uphold BMW honours in third and fourth.

Markus Reiterberger heads up row two on the Alpha BMW, ahead of championship front runners Lorenzo Savadori and Sylvain Barrier, the pair up against it ahead of the race having struggled for competitiveness so far this weekend.

Marco Bussolotti completes the second row, ahead of Honda's Fabio Massei - who lost time with a crash - and David McFadden, the South African impressing to qualify inside the top ten on his FIM Superstock 1000 debut.

However, there was poor fortune for his Pedercini Kawasaki team-mate Bryan Staring, whose crash just before mid-point necessitated a fairly lengthy stoppage.
