Norino Brignola is set to make his first World Superbike Championship start in five years after being called up as Grillini BMW's latest recruit for the Motorland Aragon round.

The Italian made 14 WSBK starts between 2005 and 2007, mostly with Guandalini Ducati, and has enjoyed success in his domestic Superbike series, where he was a champion in 2005 and 2009.

Currently identified on the provisional entry list as riding the Grillini BMW for the Spanish round of the 2012 WSBK series, Brignola would follow in the wheeltracks of Jake Holden, who competed at Miller Motorsports Park, and Federico Sandi, who rode the S1000RR at Misano.

As yet, Grillini BMW hasn't sourced a full-time replacement for Mark Aitchison after the Australian left the team five rounds into the season.
