Tom Sykes feels his recent test with Kawasaki at Motorland Aragon gives him a strong platform from which to get his World Superbike Championship title aspirations on track when the series returns to the circuit for round eight of the season.

The British rider was one of a handful to lap the Spanish venue in preparation for the race meeting last week and while no formal lap times were released, Sykes understands that he was unofficially fastest.

Having spent the two-day test at Aragon looking to improve race pace on the ZX-10R, Sykes feels the step forward made will give him a strong shot at victory this weekend.

"Aragon has a great track layout, one that I really enjoy riding on. We go there on the back of a test that we did there last week. It was very positive and unofficially it seems we were the fastest there. If we can carry that on into this and weekend I will be happy.

"We did a lot of laps in testing and I am confident we have closed the gap on the leader. All the testing we did at Aragon was definitely worthwhile and we confirmed two main things, each of which should make a difference to performance. It was good to focus our minds on the job in hand and make some real progress."

Sykes is currently third in the WSBK standings, 46 points behind currently leader Max Biaggi.
