Series leader Biaggi expecting a ‘battle’

Max Biaggi is well placed to extend his advantage in the World Superbike Championship standings after qualifying second at Motorland Aragon.
Max Biaggi says he is expecting a 'battle' for honours at Motorland Aragon, the World Superbike Championship leader reiterating his concern for the hot temperatures that have afflicted the event so far.

With many riders complaining of significant tyre wear as a result of the warmer than usual temperatures, Biaggi admits the two races are likely to be tough on the riders and the bikes.

Nonetheless, the Italian is confident about his chances from second position on the grid, the 2010 champion optimistic that the Aprilia RSV4 will be the bike to beat come the races.

“This second place comes after some good test sessions which placed us consistently in the top five,” he said. “I like this track. We were fast here last year as well, so it's a shame about first place, but Tom was really faster than anyone else.

“I think tomorrow will be a battle. Most of the riders will be in the running and we'll have to deal with the temperatures. We still have some uncertainties that we'll try to resolve between this evening and the warm-up tomorrow morning.”
