Two years after claiming his first and only Moto2 World Championship victory at Silverstone, Jules Cluzel is celebrating success at the circuit again, this time in the World Supersport Championship.
Starting from pole position, though Cluzel allowed PTR team-mate Sam Lowes to dictate the running for much of the race, the Frenchman's momentum built as the laps counted down in readiness for a last gasp assault.
Getting better drive on the Hangar Straight, Cluzel scythed into the lead with two corners remaining before rebuffing a retort from Lowes that resulted in fairly heavy contact to cross the line for his second WSS victory of the season.
"That was a hard race but I had my race plan I wanted to do and I stuck to it. I drafted Sam on the last lap but then he came back at me on the final corner and we touched, it was very close.
“I am pleased to win and also very happy to enjoy racing here and the feeling I have with my PTR Honda. It is good for us in the Championship as well, I am happy to be third again and close in on the riders in front."
