Pedercini expands to three bikes, signs new riders

Alexander Lundh will join David Salom for the remainder of the 2012 World Superbike Championship, while David McFadden will ride a third Kawasaki in Russia.
Pedercini Kawasaki has announced it will run three bikes for the World Superbike Championship's maiden foray to Russia, with Alexander Lundh and David McFadden joining David Salom at the Moscow Raceway.

The team had been seeking a replacement for Leandro Mercado after the Argentine rider decided to step back to the FIM Superstock 1000 Championship from Silverstone onwards, with Lundh now set to assume the available ride for the remaining four rounds of the season.

The 26-year-old, who will become the first Swedish rider to start a World Superbike race since Christer Lindholm competed as a wild-card at the Nurburgring in 1999, began the 2012 season in the Moto2 World Championship with MZ Racing, but recently split with the team after just seven races.

Prior to that, Lundh spent two seasons competing in the World Supersport Championship where he established himself as a regular point-scorer on a privateer Honda, while he was also a surprise front row sitter last time out at Silverstone when he was drafted in as a last minute replacement for Pawel Szkopek.

“This will be my first race with Pedercini Kawasaki Superbike team. I have never raced in Superbike before and so I will have to familiarise myself with my new bike, starting with Wednesday's test and Friday's free practices.

“I know the team's technical staff will help me adapt quickly to the new bike. I'm happy because I'm starting a new and exciting experience in the World Superbike with a very clever and skilled team. Hopefully we'll be able to score some very good results.”

In addition to Lundh, Pedercini will also enter a third Kawasaki ZX-10R for South African youngster McFadden, who competed for the team in three rounds of the FIM Superstock 1000 Championship earlier this season.

“I'm really happy to be here and I know my team will help me to quickly adapt to the new bike. I'm lucky because I can have this interesting experience at a completely new track like Moscow Raceway.

“I want to enjoy myself and take this opportunity to do my best for team Pedercini and for my sponsors.”

Both riders will get the opportunity to make their WSBK debut in a group test arranged for the entire field at the new Moscow Raceway on Wednesday.

I, for one, hope McFlash gets a great result. Pedercini seem quite determined to do things "their way" and develope the bike "their way". I hope it doesn't ruin their chances of decent results. GO DAVID!!!
