Alstare Ducati riders hampered by poor weather

Poor weather at Jerez in Spain restricts Alstare Ducati riders Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovinin to three hours' track time over scheduled three-day test
Alstare Ducati riders Carlos Checa and Ayrton Badovini only managed to complete around three hours of testing on the new Panigale 1199R during a three-day shakedown due to inclement weather at Jerez.

Prolonged spells of rain and strong winds wiped out the first two days of the test on Saturday and Sunday, although conditions improved enough to enable 2011 World Superbike champion Checa and Badovini to gain some track time during a three-hour window on Monday.

It was an ultimately fruitless venture for the Alstare Ducati team and although the riders did at least have a chance to get a feel for the new Panigale, the team has missed out on the opportunity to improve from the post-season test at Jerez in November, where Checa was around 1.7secs slower than Eugene Laverty on the Aprilia RSV4.

The team's machinery has returned to the Alstare racing department, where further development work will be carried out over the coming weeks.

Checa and Badovini are scheduled to return to action at Phillip Island in Australia for more testing on February 14-15 ahead of the first round of the World Superbike Championship at the spectacular venue.

@GIXXER LOL ... the 1199 design being lambasted by someone with an affinity for Gixxers. Different strokes, I suppose, but IMO, one is sex on wheels, the other is a robotic cyclops. (And I own both!)
