Newly retired champion Max Biaggi will still command a presence in the World Superbike paddock in 2013 after it was revealed he is likely to form part of the television commentary team for Italia 1.
According to several Italian publications, Biaggi is set to be announced as the station's new pundit after ex-LA7 commentator Mauro Sanchini let slip on Twitter
that he had been replaced by the 2010 and 2012 WSBK champion.
Though Biaggi himself took to his own Twitter account to play down the speculation, he did admit that there were plans in the pipeline to be revealed imminently.
Biaggi's arrival comes after Sportmediaset bought the television rights to World Superbikes from LA7 in a deal that will see both the Superbike and Supersport series broadcast live on terrestrial television.
Sportmediaset also have the rights to MotoGP in 2013, though it will go pay-per-view on Sky Italy from 2014.
