Davies set for BMW debut

Welshman Davies prepares to get his second season of World Superbike racing underway, this time with BMW.
Chaz Davies says he cannot wait to go racing again as he prepares to make his debut as a BMW factory rider at Phillip Island.

Heading into his second season of World Superbike competition after making the move from Aprilia to BMW machinery over the winter, Davies has been making steady progress aboard the GoldBet-backed S1000RR, but admits there is still more to come.

Setting the 12th fastest after two days of official testing at the Australian circuit, Davies insists he is prepared for the upcoming season opener.

“The change of weather conditions over the past two days did not make life easy for us. I was reasonably happy with the direction we were going with the high temperatures yesterday but then today seems to have changed everything.

“In the cooler conditions of day two, I had some issues with vibrations that I did not have in the heat. We will have a look over the data and try to improve it and to understand how the bike is working in such conditions. In general we are quite well prepared and over the next two days we will analyse what we have done in testing and try to put something together.”

“Phillip Island is always a challenge not only because the race track is extremely fast but it is the first race of the year and after the winter break it feels like you are going at 500 km/h into the first corner. It is a really challenging, but great circuit. I am really looking forward to racing again; it has been quite a while now.”

Davies missed last year's races at Phillip Island after injuring his wrist in an accident during free practice.

people a mad on here, is every comment just made out of some personal dislike for a rider . Did you not watch what he is capable of last year on a private bike? BMW did. Its testing you mongs, not every rider wants to set the world on fire against a watch, some are more interested in the pending race.

I said this in another post but Chaz is not a fast starter. He will show his ability this year. The problem is his slow start to the season is his weakness as I do not believe he will be able to mount a title challenge this year (even if he starts to come on strong in the middle, to the end, as I think he will). Once he is comfortable he will start to shine.....maybe next year for a possible title challenge but for sure I believe he will do well this year.
