Eugene Laverty is confident he will be up to speed with his main rivals from the start of the second World Superbike Championship round at Motorland Aragon, despite his Aprilia team choosing to skip a recent test at the circuit.

Currently tied at the top of the WSBK standings with Aprilia team-mate Sylvain Guintoli following his win and second place finish at the Phillip Island opener in February, Laverty heads to Spain with a determination to break clear at the top.

However, while the Irishman is aware that his Kawasaki, Honda and Suzuki rivals may have an initial advantage after conducting a private test at the Alcaniz venue last week, he is confident he will claw back ground quickly.

"Aragon was our breakthrough race last year. We fought for the race win and so I have fond memories of the track.

"Some teams have been testing at Aragon during the break so they will have the upper hand to start. However, the RSV4 is working so well at the moment that I believe we can catch up with them and fight for race wins."
