Sylvain Guintoli says he is 'ready for the fight' ahead of the second round of the 2013 World Superbike Championship at Motorland Aragon, seven weeks after his race-winning debut outing with Aprilia.

The Frenchman kicked off his career as a factory Aprilia rider in style with a formidable victory at the Phillip Island season opener, the former MotoGP rider going to claim a further podium to place him level with team-mate Eugene Laverty at the top of the standings.

Lamenting the lengthy gap between races, Guintoli admits he is itching to get back on track to prove he can maintain his flying start to the year.

"I'm very happy to be back on my Aprilia RSV4 after such a long gap since the Australian race. It felt like another winter break! Weather in the UK has not been the best, so I went to Spain to step up my physical training. Now I'm ready for the fight and looking forward to the action."
