Carlos Checa has confirmed he will go into the fourth round of the 2013 World Superbike Championship carrying an injury to his shoulder after tests revealed he has an osseous edema on the humerus.

The former champion has endured a tough start to the year since making the switch to the Alstare-prepared Ducati 1199 Panigale machinery, but now faces further concerns after specialists confirmed the injury after Assen.

Currently undergoing treatment in his native Spain, Checa is hoping he can get through the Monza weekend - traditionally a difficult circuit for the twin-cylinder machines - without too many problems.
