WSBK Donington: Laverty wary of past results

22 May 2013

Eugene Laverty is praying for a change of fortune at Donington Park, where the Northern Irishman has never enjoyed the best of luck in the past.

Laverty, who is 13 points behind team-mate World Superbike Championship leader Sylvain Guintoli after a victory and rostrum finish at Monza in Italy, feels this weekend's races at the British track are wide open.

The Aprilia star, whose best results at Donington came with a double rostrum in the British Superbike Championship in the wet, reckons there are 'seven riders on five different makes of machinery' capable of scaling the top step of the podium on Sunday.

“Donington has never been kind to me in the past so I'll be hoping that changes this weekend,” said Laverty.

“We've had a great run of form lately and I want to continue our podium streak.

“Donington couldn't be more different to the previous circuit of Monza and we'll need to work to control the power of the RSV4,” he added.

“Seven riders on five different makes of machinery could win this weekend so it's going to be a tough fight.”

The weather can play a huge part at Donington and the forecast suggests that may be the case this weekend, with a mixed bag of rain and clear skies predicted.
