Eugene Laverty is optimistic he can strive for a fourth World Superbike Championship win of the season at Donington Park after qualifying on the front row.
Joining Tom Sykes and Aprilia team-mate Sylvain Guintoli on a familiar front row, though Laverty would finish seven tenths adrift of the pole sitter, he was pleased to get a front row around a circuit that Aprilia has never won at.
Indeed, Laverty believes he has the consistent race pace to challenge for a win that could get him on terms with series leader Guintoli.
“I'm really happy to be here on the front row because around this circuit there are at least five fast riders with a similar race pace. So it's very important to start from the front row, especially since the characteristics of this track make overtaking quite difficult.
“I'm also happy to keep up my Superpole streak. It's a great sign of consistency and it is a good indicator of the shape my RSV4 and I are in.”
