A brace of rostrum results at Imola in Italy this weekend are the top priority for Aprilia's Eugene Laverty, who is determined to close the gap at the top of the World Superbike Championship to his team-mate, Sylvain Guintoli.

Laverty, who is currently 39 points behind the Frenchman, won the second race at Portimao and is primed for a concerted challenge in front of the passionate Italian fans on Sunday.

The Northern Ireland rider has won four races this season, but a double DNF at Aragon in April put a dent in his points tally and Laverty has been attempting to make up the deficit since.
