World Superbike Championship leader Sylvain Guintoli says he is feeling more positive about his chances come race day at Imola after making strides with his Aprilia RSV4's set-up during Superpole.

Along with team-mate Eugene Laverty, Guintoli struggled for front-running pace during free practice and provisional qualifying, but showed greater competiveness when it mattered during Superpole.

Ending up fourth on the grid, behind the satellite Aprilia of Davide Giugliano, a positive Guintoli insists he would have been on the front row but for a minor error costing him time.
