Leon Haslam is setting his sights high for this weekend's British round of the World Superbike Championship at Silverstone following his historic success for Honda in the iconic Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race.

Teaming up with Michael van der Mark and Takumi Takahashi, Haslam was a surprise winner given he is still effectively in recovery from the leg injury that has hampered him since April.

Confident he can now race at his maximum without having to worry about his leg, Pata Honda's Haslam is particularly determined to succeed at Silverstone having been forced to miss his home races at Donington Park earlier in the year

"Suzuka was an amazing experience and I struggled a bit during my first stint, probably trying too hard to be precise and have a good pace. Also, the compensating I had to do for my leg ended up giving me some really bad back problems, but it was all worth it in the end. Now it's all change for Silverstone this weekend, but I'm really looking forward to it.

"I love the circuit and was on the podium in 2010 and led the race last year when we all got caught out on slicks when the rain came. I missed the races at Donington earlier this year because of my leg injury, so this will be the only chance to ride in front of the British fans this season, so it's something I'm really looking forward to."
