Eugene Laverty has paid tribute to the work of the World Superbike Race Direction at Silverstone, praising the 'perfect' decisions on a difficult day.

Race Direction came under criticism following a controversial race day at the Moscow Raceway two weeks ago, with many World Superbike riders feeling first race of the day should have been stopped in light of worsening weather conditions.

With the tragic circumstances that ensued in the following World Supersport race, several competitors have urged Race Direction to co-operate more with riders in these situations so as to come to a common agreement.

As such, with intermittent drizzle afflicting both WSBK races at Silverstone this weekend, steps were duly taken to involve all parties, a move Laverty welcomed.

"I want to compliment Race Direction. The decisions made were perfect despite the difficulties and the riders were involved in discussions that were helpful in handling as best as possible a delicate situation like the one we had."
