German WSBK: Rea 'excited' by Nurburgring return

'I'm feeling good, with recharged batteries after the summer break, and I'm really excited at the prospect of riding my bike again' - Jonathan Rea
Jonathan Rea is keen on his chances of challenging for his second win of the 2013 World Superbike Championship at the Nurburgring this weekend.

The German track is one of the Ulsterman's favourite venues, with Rea tasting victory there during his maiden WSBK season in 2009.

He added another victory and runner-up finish in 2010 and is feeling confident of another strong weekend as the series returns following the four-week summer break.

Pata Honda Rea said: “I'm feeling good, with recharged batteries after the summer break, and I'm really excited at the prospect of riding my bike again this weekend.

“I really like going to the Nurburgring and it's a nice circuit to come back to after a few weeks off. It's both technical and fast-flowing, which I really enjoy.

“Hopefully, the guys back at the workshop have had some good downtime, too, because now it's time to go back to work,” added Rea.

“I'm looking forward to free practice on Friday and hopefully we can carry on our recent form.”

Rea is seventh in the points reckoning ahead of the tenth round of the championship in Germany, four points behind Loris Baz.

He clinched his first victory of the season at the previous round at Silverstone.
