Eugene Laverty has described the onset of the second half of the World Superbike Championship as 'the two most important months of my career'.

The Aprilia rider, lying third in the series order ahead of this weekend's race at the Nurburgring in Germany, is determined to topped his team-mate Sylvain Guintoli and Kawasaki's Tom Sykes at the top of the standings to clinch the world title.

Laverty, who earned two rostrum results at Silverstone prior to the summer break, said: "I've enjoyed the summer break but I'm ready to get back to racing.

"We now have five rounds in eight weeks to finish the season and I feel that these are the most important two months of my career to date.

"My team-mate Sylvain, Tom Sykes, and Marco Melandri will be tough to beat in the title race but I intend to give it my all," added the Irishman.

"Nurburgring is a really strong circuit for the Aprilia and so I hope to gain points on my championship rivals this weekend."

Laverty is 36 points behind Guintoli and 23 behind Sykes in second position with five rounds of the championship remaining.
