Turkish WSBK: Guintoli eyes return to championship top spot

'After the disappointment in Germany, my goal is to get back on the top step of the podium' - Sylvain Guintoli
Aprilia's Sylvain Guintoli has the benefit of prior track experience at Istanbul Park as the World Superbike Championship contender bids to regain the title driving seat this weekend.

Guintoli trails Kawasaki's Tom Sykes by a single point at the top of the table and intends to make every race count as the season enters its decisive phase.

The Frenchman previously raced at the Turkish circuit in his days as a Grand Prix rider and is fired up to make a big impression this weekend.

“Istanbul Park is a great track where I have good memories from my GP days,” said Guintoli, who finished fourth and fifth at the Nurburgring last time out as he lost his championship advantage.

“More importantly, the fight for the championship is on, and this is very exciting. After the disappointment in Germany, my goal is to get back on the top step of the podium.”
