Having already proven he can be quick over a single lap on a Superbike, Toni Elias went a long way to showing he can also race shoulder-to-shoulder with his new rivals after a lively debut performance at Istanbul Park.

Already a revelation by virtue of his immediate pace on the Red Devils Roma Aprilia, former MotoGP rider Elias was in the thick of the action from the off in both races, surviving last corner contact with Davide Giugliano to complete his maiden race in sixth place.

Going one spot better in race two with a run to fifth place, Elias also had the satisfaction to racing hard with Marco Melandri and passing Chaz Davies on the final lap of the race.
