Michel Fabrizio says he hopes to be more competitive next time out at Laguna Seca after enduring a fairly lacklustre debut with Pata Honda at Istanbul Park.
Making the switch from the Red Devils Roma team to replace the injured Jonathan Rea, Fabrizio spent much of his weekend getting up to speed on the CBR1000RR.
Qualifying 12th out of 15 riders, Fabrizio battled at the low end of the top ten in both races, eventually coming away with a pair of tenth place finishes. Admitting to not making as much progress as he would have hoped, Fabrizio is now turning his attentions to the next round in the United States.
“It has not been an easy weekend but it was very important for me to finish both the races to find out as much as possible about the bike and how it works. For me, that was a positive and I really enjoyed riding the bike for the first time here.
“It has been a great experience to work with the team and I think we have made some progress but maybe not as much as we wanted. I look forward to riding again at Laguna Seca where I hope we can be closer to the front.”
Fabrizio remains eighth in the standings, eight points behind the injured Rea.
