Sylvain Guintoli has retained his place at the top of the World Superbike timesheets ahead of Superpole at Magny-Cours after rain washed out any improvements in Q2.
Having already made its presence felt at times on the Friday, rain returned for Saturday morning with damp conditions carrying through to Q2 to prevent any rider from getting close to their Q1 best.
It means the order would remain unchanged at the end of Q2 with Guintoli still leading Tom Sykes, Chaz Davies, Jules Cluzel and Eugene Laverty.
It also means four riders will contest Superpole for the first time this season, with Suzuki's Vincent Philippe, Ducati's Michele Pirro, Kawasaki's David Salom and Mesaroli Ducati's Lorenzo Lanzi all making it inside the top fifteen.
However, by contrast, the bad weather would consign Mark Aitchison, Federico Sandi, Fabrizio Lai and Vittorio Iannuzzo to their respective 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th grid positions.
The damp session itself was topped by Marco Melandri on the BMW, ahead of Davide Giugliano, Guintoli and Ayrton Badovini, while Salom would suffer his second crash of the weekend to bring out the red flag.
