Fresh from his eye-catching run to the podium at Laguna Seca, Davide Giugliano continued to display his recent gains in maturity as he notched up a solid brace of fourth place finishes at Magny-Cours.

Starting from the front row of the grid, though Giugliano didn't quite have the race pace to stay with Tom Sykes and the factory Aprilia riders, he would nonetheless have the measure of the factory BMW riders as he finished just off the podium on each occasion.

Indeed, the strong haul of points have done wonders to Giugliano's overall standing, the Althea rider going from ninth to sixth at the expense of Michel Fabrizio, as well as the injured Loris Baz and Jonathan Rea. With just one round remaining, Giugliano is now guaranteed to finish the year as the top privateer rider.

"We didn't reach the podium but it's been a satisfying weekend in which we battled with the riders fighting for the title. "It was not easy and I had trouble in both races because the leaders were lapping with a consistently fast pace. In the final lap of race two, I could see that some sections of the track were wet and so I was very careful not to make mistakes.

"Now we head to Jerez, the track where I rode the Aprilia for the first time and we head there spurred on by these great results here today."
