Alex Lowes testing Fixi Crescent Suzuki at Jerez

One of the Lowes twins could well be on the World Superbike grid in 2014 after it was revealed that Alex is testing for Suzuki at Jerez...
British Superbike Champion Alex Lowes could be set for a move into the World Superbike Championship next season after it was revealed he has joined Fixi Crescent Suzuki for testing at Jerez.

The youngster, who wrapped up his first BSB title for Samsung Honda at Brands Hatch less than two weeks ago, has long been linked to ride in MotoGP with the Paul Bird Motorsport.

However, the exit of Gigi Dall'Igna from Aprilia has raised questions over whether the Italian marque will commit to updating the ART - PBM's likely choice, either as a complete package or continuing as the engine for its own PBM bike - when Honda and Yamaha enter the rebranded 'Open' class.

With this in mind, Lowes is said to be exploring options elsewhere and has duly accepted a call from Suzuki to test its GSX-R1000 at Jerez this week alongside Leon Camier, who is tipped to remain with the British team for a third season.

Fixi Crescent Racing had originally targeted Alex's twin brother Sam for a deal in 2014, but the new World Supersport Champion instead opted for a Moto2 ride, telling that he wasn't 'going to win' on the Suzuki.

Lowes sealed the 2013 BSB title after a thrilling season-long duel with three-time champion Shane Byrne, the 23-year-old beating his more experienced rival in a final race showdown.
