Sykes prepares for latest winter test at Aragon

'Testing itself is something I always look forward to, just to keep myself up to speed and get to know the bike even better as it develops' - Tom Sykes
New World Superbike champion Tom Sykes is looking forward to another programme of winter testing on the Kawasaki ZX-10R at Motorland Aragon this week.

Sykes and team-mate Loris Baz will again ride the latest specification Kawasaki at the Spanish circuit on Thursday on Friday following a recent test at Jerez.

“We're all looking forward to getting back to testing at Motorland and hope the weather is kind to us,” said Sykes.

“There are some items we need to evaluate but we should also be testing a few things we tried in Jerez again, just to confirm the performance of them on a different track.

“Testing itself is something I always look forward to, just to keep myself up to speed and get to know the bike even better as it develops,” he added.

“I hope that the weather in Aragon is an improvement we have in the UK right now, because it has been terrible here recently.”

Baz, meanwhile – who missed the final championship rounds with a back injury – expects to make further progress with the Kawasaki this week as the team adapts to the new regulations set to come into effect next year.

“I am looking forward to this test because we still have quite a lot of things to try and I am sure we can make another step forward,” he said.

“We will see how the weather will be but I am sure we can make good steps if the weather is nice. It may be difficult to have just the same kind of warm conditions we had at the most recent Jerez tests.”

Tom and the ZX10R is clearly the favorite to win the manufacturers and riders championship. I just do not see any other riders out there who is capable in winning against Tom. Behind that grin is a vicious smile and in the past 2 seasons Tom has demonstrated his ability to battle.

Really cool pic. Now that Tom finally has that championship under his belt I think he will be even better than last year. I hope Kawasaki keeps up the support. He's going to hard to beat in 2014. On another note, and this is the last time I'll bring it up, but I would have loved to see Nicky Hayden as his teammate for next year. With the two of them odds would favor Kawasaki winning the manufactures title.
