Marco Melandri reflected on a solid test at Aragon as Aprilia's new World Superbike rider continues to familiarise himself with the RSV4.

The Italian star, who replaces Irishman Eugene Laverty in the factory team, was joined at a two-day test at Aragon last week by test rider Alex Hofmann.

Sylvain Guintoli was absent from the shakedown after undergoing surgery to correct the right shoulder injury he suffered before the Moscow round.

It was Melandri's second outing on the Aprilia after the post-race test at Jerez immediately following the final round of the series.

Melandri said: "It has been two very interesting days even if they were complicated by the low temperatures. We worked on riding position and I was able to test an RSV4 with the same configuration Guintoli uses, gathering a lot of useful information.

"Now we'll wait for a day when the weather is better so that we can compare material and decide which way to go.

"It has been a good test and I can't wait to get back on the track to try and improve my times on the fast lap."

Melandri and Aprilia will be in action again at the final test at Jerez from November 25-27 next week prior to the onset of the winter ban, which commences on December 1 and runs until January 14.
