Loris Baz aiming for top three finish in World Superbikes in 2014

'We surely need to get a good start of 2014 and be consistently up front, my goal is to finish the season within the top three' - Loris Baz
Kawasaki's Loris Baz has set himself a target of finishing inside the top three in the World Superbike Championship in 2014.

Baz missed the last four rounds of the season with a back injury but successfully completed the final tests of the year prior to the onset of the winter ban.

And the former Superstock 600 is determined to take his career to the next level as he focuses on become a consistent front-runner on the Kawasaki alongside world champion and team-mate Tom Sykes.

“I don't feel any pressure on my shoulders, I'm simply excited. I knew the level we reached in the second half of the season, but unfortunately the injury did not allow me to show my potential,” the Frenchman told the official World Superbike website.

“We surely need to get a good start of 2014 and be consistently up front, my goal is to finish the season within the top three.”

Baz also provided an update on his fitness as he continues to recover from the back injury he sustained in a big spill during warm-up at the Nurburgring in September.

“My back is really good now, I'm working hard on it with my coach Dominique Simoncini and I'm following a physiotherapy programme. I'm feeling great,” he said.

“Testing went really well, I'm happy because we could end up 2013 in a strong way and that gives me confidence for next season.

“We did a big step forward with electronics and general feeling with the ZX-10R. Kawasaki Japan gave us some new parts, which worked well and suit my riding style better.

“I can't wait for January 16 as we'll be testing at Almeria, I love riding my ZX-10R and I want to keep improving before the start of the season.”

Baz finished eighth overall this season and took a victory in race two at Silverstone, where he won his maiden WSBK race in 2012.
