Camier called up to replace injured Barrier

29 March 2014

Leon Camier will make a return to the World Superbike Campionship grid for the second round at Motorland Aragon after being called up to replace the injured Sylvain Barrier.

Camier, who notched up 97 WSBK race starts between 2010 and 2013 with Aprilia and Suzuki, has been sidelined in recent months after failing to land a ride over the winter.

However, the British rider will jump aboard the EVO-specification BMW Italia S1000RR at Aragon and beyond until Barrier, who was seriously hurt in a road car accident earlier this month, returns.

"I'm really excited to get started. From what I've heard the BMW has a lot of potential and this is a really good opportunity for me. I've been on the standard bike and it's the most comfortable road bike I've ever sat on so I hope that translates to the race bike and that I have a good feeling right away. I can't wait to get to work.

"My best wishes to Sylvain of course. I hope that his recovery goes to plan and that he gets well soon”

After losing his ride at Crescent Suzuki, nine-time WSBK podium winner Camier was originally slated to compete in MotoGP with IodaRacing but the deal would fall through
