Giugliano switches it up with record pace

2 April 2014

Davide Giugliano has given another firm indication that Ducati is returning back to form as he turned in lap record pace during the second day of World Superbike testing at Jerez.

The Italian, together with team-mate Chaz Davies, held a 1-2 position on the first day, but Giugliano would simply up the pace on day two, lapping in 1min 40.166secs aboard the 1199 Panigale R.

Giugliano was pushed all the way by Kawasaki Racing rider Loris Baz, who turned in a lap of 1min 40.283secs, the young pair well ahead of Jonathan Rea in third place on the PATA Honda.

Behind them, Chaz Davies and Sylvain Guintoli completed the top five, ahead of Marco Melandri, Eugene Laverty, Leon Haslam and Alex Lowes, while sole EVO rider David Salom completed the top ten.

Meanwhile, Tom Sykes was present but ran without a transponder, thus preventing him from recording any times.
