Chaz Davies is hoping the influx of the 'Ducatisti' in his first World Superbike race for Ducati on Italian soil will spur him onto good results as he looks for his first podium of the season.
The Welshman has endured a modest start to the 2014 WSBK season on the 1199 Panigale, particularly compared with team-mate Davide Giugliano, and admits there is still some 'refining' to do in order to bring himself up to speed.
Nonetheless, Davies has high hopes Ducati's home circuit at Imola will be better suited to the twin-cylinder machine and, at worst, he will be well supported.
“Imola's always been a fairly good track for me and I like the layout for the most part, except perhaps the final chicane. We still have a lot of work to do in order to refine my Panigale but I'm feeling optimistic as we head to Imola.
“It's my first Italian round as a Ducati rider so I'm sure we'll enjoy lots of support from the fans and the Ducatisti, there's always a good crowd at Italian events. It would be nice to pay the fans back with some strong results in Sunday's races…”
Davies is currently seventh in the WSBK standings, with a best finish of fourth place at Motorland Aragon.
